A Study of the Complexity of Problems Posed by Talented Students in Mathematics

Problem posing and mathematical talent are topics of interest to the community researchers in Mathematics Education, but few studies reveal talented students’ abilities solve problem-posing tasks. The data were collected using a problem invention instrument composed four questionnaires that include free, semi-structured tasks structures. sample consisted 23 students considered as mathematically 22 from standard public school. results show problems posed by group more complex than those invented group. former longer greater diversity ideas while also requiring steps be solved, presenting higher level complexity according PISA framework, significant cognitive effort.
